Take a Hike-Pima Canyon
Not long after starting out on the trail, we cross under an overpass. This will be a very welcome sight when we return!
The trail is just wide enough for two and takes us through iconic desert.
We start to climb a bit.
The shadowed walls of Pima Canyon lie ahead. We'll be walking along a creek bed for most of the way.
The day is getting warmer and the shaded trail is welcome.
And just interesting enough to keep drawing us in. We met a young rock climber just around the bend here.
Brittle bush is starting to bloom!
And just one small patch of a wild morning glory.
This is a delightful spot lined with cottonwood trees that are just starting to turn golden yellow.
And it is steep in places as you can see. This is the final climb before our destination-a small dam intended to hold water for wildlife.
Signs of ancient civilization- grinding holes.
We could go much further, but after nearly four miles of hiking, this is a good place to stop for lunch. And remember, it's four miles back to the trailhead.
Enjoy the hike back. It's always interesting to observe the trail in the opposite direction. See you back at the car!
